I'll summarize my latest experience with SCO UnixWare: it's like sucking a metric ton of ass from a straw.

I just wanted to change an IP address. I had to grep most of /etc to find the directories and files to change. At least /etc/hosts and vi were where I expected them...

Youtube has three bugs that seem to be permanent:

- On some videos, seeking is not possible (I guess that makes Youtube itself "New and Improved" for 2008)
- On videos that are seekable, seeking is only possible in random increments (~17 sec). This bug is as old as Youtube.
- It's 2008 and there are still videos whose audio is out of sync. ( Read more... )

Outlook really sucks. Reason #n: I can't filter messages which lack a Subject: line. There's a kluge, but I'd rather make one rule that applies to messages without a Subject: line instead. Just because some automaton doesn't have a subject doesn't mean I should have TWO "spam" folders to babysit instead of one ( Read more... )

The problem: the GNOME screensaver needs a way to be disabled because maybe someone wants to run xscreensaver instead.

My question to you: which would you think of first to solve this problem:

1. Go to the preferences for the screen saver and look for a check box that reads, "Enable screensaver" and then uncheck it.

Each time I withdraw money from an ATM running Windows, I fear for my money. Turns out I was right in fearing. I really hope BOA have better security on their Windows ATMs than this. While I've had a good experience with the new ATMs, I hope corners aren't being cut. Nothing like having to wonder if a block of swiss cheese is handling my money
